Nice, thank you Tom. Here's what came to mind: how might the two tasks you set out be usefully connected? The argument in the book *Mindful Solidarity* is that it’s important to both practice meditation and be active in our communities for each of these to work well. It’s not an either, or.
Thanks for your comment, Ramsey - and especially for your reminder about Mike Slott's powerful recommendation in his book "Mindful Solidarity" to link our meditation practice with our community activism. I’m in full agreement with you. As I wrote in my piece, the two tasks are meant to be parallel tasks, so definitely they are not either/or. Your idea of seeing them as connected is a great improvement over my description of them as parallel.
I really like the revised tasks, Tom. I feel that they were in effect during the recent writing of the statement for "A Buddhist Coalition for Democracy--A Call to Action." I will put the two tasks into practice in my everyday life.
Thanks so much, Anne-Laure! I'm quite certain that, in formulating these revisions to the two tasks, I was very much influenced by having read the Call to Action statement from the Buddhist Coalition for Democracy. Look forward to seeing you again at one of our upcoming SBN Zoom meetings.
